LASER VEIN AND VASCULAR TREATMENT
The goal of laser vein treatment is for
the unwanted vessel to be selectively heated up and destroyed while
protecting the surrounding tissue. Small red spider veins on the face
or lower body can be treated, as well as larger blue-green colored veins
on the legs. Lightening or fading of the vessels may occur between 3-8
weeks post-treatment for most vessels, where smaller spider veins may
lighten or fade faster. The total number of required treatment sessions
depends on the extent and depth of the vascular lesions.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the LV?
The LV combines safe and effective levels of laser and radiofrequency
(electric current) energies to remove leg veins and other unwanted
vessels. Both laser and radiofrequency have been used separately for
decades in medicine and surgery, but the LV exclusively combines light
and electric energy for ideal treatment outcomes - improve leg veins and
vascular lesions with a very low risk of side effects.
What can I expect from LV treatments?
The LV can improve unsightly leg veins and other unwanted vascular
lesions. Spider veins and larger blue-green vessels on legs will
gradually fade and can be treated until patient satisfaction has been
reached. Facial spider veins can also be treated with the LV.
How many treatments are required?
Most patients will have between 1-3 treatments. Some vessels may require
more than 3 treatment sessions.
How often are treatments done?
Treatment sessions are typically 6-8 weeks apart. Smaller spider veins
may be treated every 4 weeks.
How long do treatments take?
Each treatment session typically takes between 20-45 minutes.
Does treatment hurt?
The sensation may be described as a “hot pinch”, like someone snapping
an elastic band on your skin. Patients tolerate treatment well by use of
either cooling the skin during treatment and/or use of a topical
anesthetic cream that numbs the skin.
Who should be treated with the LV?
Anyone with unwanted leg veins or vascular lesions may be a candidate
for treatment with the LV. Removal of vascular lesions and veins with
ELOSTM technology (laser and radiofrequency) is a safe and effective
alternative for patients who want a non-invasive approach to vascular
treatment. LV is the clear choice for patients who do not like needles
or who have had adverse reaction to solutions that are injected into the
vein during Sclerotherapy. Your clinician will determine individual
suitability for LV treatment during the consultation.
Are there any risks to treatment?
Any medical laser procedure has risk of side effects such as superficial
blistering, crusting, and pigmentary changes in the skin. These risks
are rare and usually quickly resolve. The LV incorporates several
technological advances that focus on client safety to minimize these
risks and provide greater client satisfaction. The laser handpiece is
also cooled for skin protection and comfort during the procedure.
